Lee Roy Selmon has a story that has a family history of scholarship football with volunteering for the community. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. Both raised him on their property in Eufala. On the football field, he competed with his three siblings for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-American teams. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. Oklahoma had two National Championships during his time as a lineman. In 1975, he received his third scholarship, and was named the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned a bachelor's in educational studies. Fourth year of the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. In Tampa He played with the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Also, he began a career in business. In 1988 he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of America's top young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when was playing college football. As of 1975, Lee Roy commanded the team. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. The College Football Hall of Fame named him in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame was in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. He and his parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
